I have the Canon 8-15mm fisheye lens, and while I like the fisheye effect (which is why I bought it), it would be nice to make the 14-15 (I shoot FF, 5D3) focal lengths rectilinear corrected sometimes.

What do you all suggest? I was thinking DxO optics, it doesn't list the 8-15mm as a supported lens, though.

what software do you have at your disposal?

According to these folks, you can possibly download it for PS/LR... http://forums.adobe.com/thread/629199 (external link)

I tried that link you posted, and the lens profile didn't show up for me after installing it. I think it wasn't for RAW images or whatever, I used a different Sigma lens profile, and I was able to correct it somewhat... I just feel like there must be a better way.

I don't have the 8-15... but I do have the Sigma 15mm FE... There's a lens correction profile for it... but I find that I don't like the way "corrected" photos look. I find that you can only as so much of software... it doesn't know how far away from your subject you are, so it corrects a wide landscape the same as it would a closeup shot... So, manual adjusting can help... and I find that's the best way given different distances to subject.

Sorry there's not a one-click fix... wish there was.

Interesting. I actually also have AutoPano, I will check out what that has for this.

Isn't the whole point of the Fisheye lenses to get that extreme wide angle look? If you would always "de-fish" might as well go for a proper UWA lens.

Yes of course! I have a 16-35mm, which is plenty wide as well. But sometimes you just want a LITTLE wider. The 14mm 2.8L is like $2000. No thanks!

I assumed that you're using LR. All you have to do is selecting Lens Profile to Canon 15mm f2.8 fisheye (it is the only option for Canon fisheye lens that available in LR) then change distortion to positive number and you have it.
I've been debating whether I should go ahead with 14L while I can do similar looks with my Canon 8-15 @14mm.

Here is sample picture taken with 8-15mm @15mm then changed distortion to look like the 14L.

DxO is very good but the 8-15 isn't even on the roadmap yet. You could request that lens but you never know when they will get to it.

Current versions of Canon's Digital Photo Professional supports it already and has multiple options to correct the image from correcting it to other match other fisheye projections to rectilinear. Page 66-67 of the current DPP manual describe it with examples.

Cool, I'll have to try that out. I never bothered to install it since I usually just use lightroom.

I don't see the 8-15mm listed in this program... hmm, I got the updater off the Canon website too.

The program doesn't list the lenses supported for aberration correction. The program has a list only for the digital lens optimizer function which doesn't support the 8-15 and doesn't correct distortion anyway. The 8-15 is listed in the PDF manual which has the body and lens lists for the normal lens aberration correction function. The correction is only for raw files.
