L Lens to video Camera adaptor

I'm not sure the title is correct but I made this little thing yesterday so I can video a Car Rally while I photograph it, It cost me no more than a few cents to make and I'm sure it's going to do the job

Did this years ago with a GoPro.

Easiest option: buy a tripod mount for it, attach to a coldshoe-to-1/4" plate, and voila. Done. Slides into the body's hotshoe.

I have the hot shoe to 1/4"-20 adapter, it was $1 shipped from eBay.

1 whole dollar! I only paid . . . . actually I don't even think it cost me anything, maybe 10c, It worked pretty well and I can still use my flash (if needed)

I have all thread and nuts on hand all the time lol the adapter looked much nicer than that a what I could have came up with.


If I were you I'd use 2 thinner nuts, one to lock it to the lens and another to lock down the body. Great DIY.

I agree there, I did cut the bolt so it bottoms out in the lens thread and then I set the nut so when I wind the camera on it stops exactly at the right point but after removing and re fitting about a dozen times without a spanner it started point slightly right.
