May 17, 2013 22:18 | #8 It doesn't get much better than this. Clear frosty morning down by the Murrumbidgee, hiding amongst the shrubs and this little brown thornbill coming within 5 metres and letting me get a shot. Been smiling for the rest of the day. callumbrae

May 18, 2013 23:03 | #9 Another unbelievably good morning, this time in Symonston. I've been trying to get a keeper of the male golden whistler for years, and at last found one not only cooperative, but he sang for me as well.

May 19, 2013 03:55 | #11 Thanks, Shorty. Your varied sitella is better than any I have. I wonder how many species we can get on this thread and give a plug for our wonderful city at the same time? The Yellow-rumped thornbill is very common in the ACT and small flocks are often seen feeding on the ground. Location, Namadgi Visitors Centre.

May 19, 2013 17:17 | #13 Nice one, Shorty. I've tried to encourage these little fellows, but limited space and bird-unfriendly gardens over the fence have blessed me with sparrows and mynas instead. Good job we have so many tracts of bushland running through the capital. callumbrae
