One more from the Namadgi Visitors Centre. This is at the foot of Mt Tennant.
White-throated gerygone. I wish I could photograph its beautiful song, but you can hear it here.

Beautiful captures here, callumbrae and rawshorty!
One more reason to want to visit your beautiful country! Your native birds display some awesome coloration.
The sitella certainly resembles our nuthatches with his head down “Australian rappel” position. Keep ‘em coming!

Thanks Andrew.
Thanks Barry, your welcome to come over any time you want.

I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.

Nice one, Shorty. I've tried to encourage these little fellows, but limited space and bird-unfriendly gardens over the fence have blessed me with sparrows and mynas instead. Good job we have so many tracts of bushland running through the capital.

Do you supply water for the birds? I found I started to get a lot more around when I set up two small bird baths.

Here is a pic of my bath, Red-Browed Finch and Silvereye.

Yes, I have water baths front and back. The birds do use them, just not the wee ones that like a lot of thick bushes and long grass. That is a terrific couple of shots of the finches and silvereyes in your bird bath. Never seen so many taking a dip together.
Here is a solitary juvenile spotted pardalote on one of the very hot days we had in January. Three of them sat within a couple of metres of the water bucket all day.

Bless you Shorty, we were both at the same place last summer! Great shots too. Just after Christmas at the same place my 7D decided to wipe my CF card just as I filled it up, and my buff-banded rail went west with everything else. After the second episode in 2 days, and the third in total I gave the 7D the axe and got a 5D Mk III.
Bit of an oldie, but while we are on water birds, this little pied cormorant was at Norgrove Park in Kingston. Just moments after I took it another one landed on the pond, and this fellow sent him packing, then returned to a high roost and flapped his wings again. Obvoiusly he owned that bit of territory.

You know, I have never got a decent shot of silver gulls in the ACT. These are great action shots, showing what agressive birds they can be.
This is another oldie taken in my backyard. Sulphur crested cockatoos usually raise their crest as they land on a perch, but you have to be quick because they don't keep it up long.

Thanks, Margaret. The Gull shots were in spring, they were fighting over a girl.
Nice shot of the crest, it doesn't stay up for long.
Bowen park again. Australasian Darter.

Beautiful light on its feathers, there. Was this early morning or late afternoon?

The white-browed woodswallows are summer migrants in the ACT. This female was shot at the Namadgi Visitors Centre. I was surprised how quietly she sat as I moved slowly between the bushes. The male was nearby.

Another from a spot near to the Namadgi Visitors Centre, right on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. Yellow-faced honeyeater.
