Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I purchased a Canon EOS 650D last year and for the last month was having trouble with my touch screen blacking out and unable to change any settings. I had to turn the camera off for a few seconds then back on again to get the screen to come back to normal. We have done/checked a lot of things out in settings.... etc.... There is definitely a problem that is not operator error.

I recently sent the camera away for it to be repaired (under warranty, canon replaced the touch screen with a new one), it was gone for 3 weeks I got it back 2 days ago, took it out this morning and my touch screen went blank again, plus I now have a few seconds delay when wanting to play back images or change settings, this is not a constant thing it just comes and goes. I've been told there hasn't been any problems with the canon touch screens, but I'm thinking it's a problem some where else (like the camera not communicating properly to the screen, kind of thing). I've been told I will need to send it away again, so it will be gone for another 3 weeks..... Not happy.

Has anyone else had this trouble?

Are you sure that it's not the eye-cup blocking the sensor that tells the camera when you have your eye to the viewfinder. Sometimes the eye-cup gets moved upward, try pushing it back down.

Yep, thats one of the first things checked and that ain't it. I'm holding the camera at the sides (no fingers near eye piece) and just below chest hight when it's done it, so nothing anywhere near the eye piece (and no I don't shooting using live view, I only shoot using view finder).

It will do it right in the middle of shooting also, so it's not the auto timer either.
