I just recently purchased a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens, so now I have 3 lenses and am seriously thinking about adding a second camera body to my gear. I'd like to purchase another T2i, but curious if anyone has another suggestion. Right now my price range max is $500.00 preferably.

Having two of the same is less confusing, however having a cropper and a full frame is nice too.

What do you need the second body for? You're not getting any extra features or focal lengths by getting the same body and your current lens lineup means that you won't get any extra coverage by carrying two bodies simultaneously, since your 50 and 18-70 are covered by the 18-270.

Outside of a backup body for critical shooting, I don't understand why another t2i would be desirable.

I've heard you can pick up a 5Dc for about $500 now.

My larger lens is a bit slow at focusing for races and other action shots, it would be nice to have an extra body with the 50mm lens or even the factory 18-55mm lens as a runner or animal gets closer, the focusing is faster than on my larger lens.

Any website suggestions? I noticed the Megapixels on the 5D are at around 12, how big of a difference is that from 18?
I just now noticed that it said 18-70mm instead of 18-55mm, and I have no idea how I managed that when typing it out
Thanks for pointing it out though.

Probably wouldn't recommend the 5Dc if this is what you were looking for. The AF system isn't exactly the fastest. So far the going rate for 5Dc in the for sale section here is closer to $600

Hmm, would my best bet be to stick to another T2i/550D then? I do love it, but was just curious before I actually make a final decision.

You can pick up a refurb T3i body for $350 from Canon Direct right now. It's basically just a T2i with a swivel screen.

..and a Wireless Flash Commander...;)

This in itself will save you the difference for not having to buy wireless triggers in the outset, should you decide to experiment with Off Camera Flash (OCF).

The main question is why do you feel the need for a second body?
Shooting in situations/environments that prevent timely exchange of lenses?
Your reason for needing the second body greatly dictates what to get for a second body. I'm with the others, in that if you're considering a second body, a 5D for FF option would be something to consider, rather than just another T2i - but again, that depends on your reason/thinking..

why two t2i ! i would get a 5d2 or even 5d3, so as not to have two of the same camera, that would give you a full frame as well as a back up camera as needed !and most people do not even need a back-up,unless there a pro, doing lots of work, think about it!!!

OP did however state a budget of around $500 - even a 5D Classic is a bit of a stretch for that. Save up those pennies.

Sporting events mainly, or if I were out shooting wildlife and needed one with longer lens (which would be rented at this time) and the other one with a shorter lens for closer range. And for that really bad chance of my camera suddenly malfunctioning while out on a shoot.
