Smoky Mountain Mother

We were in the GSMNP a couple weeks ago and caught this Mother an three cubs in Cades Cove. None of the pics had all 3 cubs in clear view but aI did get this one of 2 of them!

Wow incredible capture. How close were you? I would need at least a 600mm to feel safe and even that would have to have a 1.4X on it! LOL

Excellent pictures but I will say that at 40 yards had she wanted you she would have had you in no time flat unless you were close to your car for get away .

Thanks all, These were taken right at the exit of Cades Cove in a typical "Bear Jam" there so it was just me , the bears and about 50 others and if she had gotten angry there would have been others that she would have gotten to first. I consider myself a pretty good outdoors-man and always try to have an exit plan when close to wildlife, others seem to think these are cute puppies and get way to close. It could have made for some spectacular photos though had she decided to get upset, of course they would have been blurry as it is hard to execute the escape plan and keep things in focus when I am diving through a car window!!
