I'm going to check out a used 1D Mk IV today locally thats listed for what I think is a good price.

Is there any way to check the shutter count reliably without sending to Canon?

Is there anything I should look out for?

I don't usually buy used electronic goods but the price is very reasonable.

Eoscount.com is pretty good but you'll have to paid for the service. Just to the usually inspection. Scuff and dents check to make sure the flash hot Shie works also. My buddy bought a used one CL and realize that the hot shoe didn't work after a week. Pretty sad.

Thanks mate. The lady selling it had no idea on the count, she thought it would be less than 50k but I got it for a steal so I've just grabbed it anyway.

About to do an EOScount.com to see.

Checking the hot shoe now as well!

All seems to be okay. eoscount.com says it has a little over 46000 clicks and the owner just had the sensor cleaned by CPS.

Looking forward to shooting a local motorsport event with it next weekend.
