First attempts at the Moon

I know there is a thread for this but I'm not sure how close I am and would like some C&C ... I tried following all the advice I received on here and it did get me closer from the starting point on my own.

Also which one of these do you think is the best? I'm not even sure what I am looking for other than the obvious focus related!

Thanks for the input and suggestions ..

Well you got it good! I didn't see any info as to the settings used to take these images and it may help in trying to make suggestions for improvement.
Otherwise, I think you did a good job and didn't over process the images. I would be trying different contrast and exposure settings to sharpen them up.

Astro-Tech 8" f/4 imaging Newtonian,Baader MPCC,Orion ED 80 APO F7.5,Skywatcher EQ-6 Pro,ASGT, Modified Canon 50D, Meade DSI Guide Camera, 8" SCT dovetail mounted relic, Criterion Dynascope RV-6, modified 300D, custom astro shed, and still just getting started!

Got it ... I added the info ... the bottom two are the same setting but obviously different focus or camera shake??

the only thing I didn't do was mirror lock ... do you think it would help tune them up a bit??

Thanks for looking

Steve

Tough call, but I think the 3rd image is the best of the lot. I downloaded all five and looked at them in Photoshop. I realize you were shooting through a lens at 280mm, but I think the F stop should have been closer to 100-125 iso. You need to think of the moon as a bright subject. Bernoulli here on the board has some fantastic moon shot taken on 28 Jan 2010 and 5 May 2012 in the "Post your Moon shots" thread. Of course they were through a scope and were either a composite or a stacked image. But for what you got, you should be happy with them.

Greg

Cool thanks for the info ... and the tips ... I havent even had this camera 2 weeks ... but I want to get into a scope and maybe get into this type of photography a little more but that is an entirely different game ... one for another day and another budget lol!!

Thanks again for the tip on ISO ...

Steve
