How do you test lens sharpness? Tamron 70-300mm VC.

if when you manual focus the lens the results are the same...I'd look into the picture styles setting...set them both at the same settings...it could be possible your wifes sharpness is set to 7, and yours is at 0...

picture styles can make a huge difference

I thought he was shooting RAW and using lightroom to convert. Does lightroom even honor any of those settings? I thought those were primarily for jpeg output.

Yeah, I have Picture Style Standard with Sharpness 7, Contrast 2 Saturation 0 and Skin Tone -1...

As a custom profile. It is still picture style standard

Can we see the original uncropped photo of each.
My guess is that you're cropping in to such a small area and expecting results that are just not possible from such a heavy crop.
