How does one simply quit Smugmug and smoothly/quickly transfer photos?

I either want to store on my own or go to another service.

I'm thinking of using solid state drives and just double-storing for safety.

But how in the heck to I get the thousands of photos onto my new solid state drives without downloading them one-at-a-time? If I download each gallery as a zip will it deteriorate the quality of the photos?

Also, how does one transfer a whole collection to another service?

Thanks

Thank you. bw!

zip is non-lossy, which you can prove to yourself by downloading a single file as well as a zip archive and comparing the md5 checksums of the same file from the archive.

Do you not have the file that you uploaded to smugmug on your computer?

There are many utilities which can do this, my favorite is picbackman (http://www.picbackman.com (external link)).
