For those of you who don't know by my avatar, I'm nuts about nuthatches.
I couldn't help but chuckle a little at the first 3 images in this thread which show a fledgling White-breasted Nuthatch learning how to be a nuthatch. These 3 were captured in pretty rapid succession over the course of about 3 seconds.
The remainder of the images are of adults who I think you'll agree definitely know how to be a nuthatch.

4. This is one of the fledglings parents who stopped by a few minutes after the above sequence.

I hope these have all made you smile, and better appreciate the difficulties these poor birds go through to achieve the stately poses they display as adults. Thanks for looking in and as always I welcome comments, critiques, and criticisms.

Love these captures, Steve. Outstanding!
One of my favorite birds too.
I never tire of watching their unique performance of running headfirst down tree trunks. What amazing little acrobats!

It's fun watching the little ones progress into life, Steve. The parents look like they're saying "...and you have to hold your head up a bit higher..like this.." :) . Great set.

Those Red-breasted can be little scooters Six Fifty that's for sure. Thanks for stopping in and leaving a very nice compliment.

I'm sure you're right about the parents Ian and it's fun to watch all the little ones around right now. If it'd ever stop snowing where you are your younguns will soon be out too :) Thanks as always for your support.

They made me smile, but they are also wonderful shots, you are quite right to be nuts about these charming birds.

Very nice. We have one that frequents a feeder next to our kitchen window. He dominates the house wren and house finches that compete for spots on the feeder.
