i currently have the sigma version of the 24-70 (latest hsm version) and the new sigma 35. the sigma 35 wows me together with my 135L (previously it was the 100L and the 70-200/2.8, but now they have failed to impress).

similarly, my sigma 24-70 is starting to pale in comparison against those lovely primes i have. will the v2 reach the levels that the s35 and 135L can hit? i've looked at the lens sample pictures but then again - the skill level of each photographer differs, and that affects how the image is being rendered. i'd love to have opinions of those who have both the s35 and the 24-70ii in hand . thanks!

I have both the 24-70 II and the Sigma 35mm. Both are fantastic. The zoom is very sharp wide open and is excellent. I bought the Sigma to shoot wide open, so if I have enough light I reach for the 24-70 II.

can you often discern between which image is taken by which lens?

also, do you often take pictures using the 24-70 near its MFD? wanna ask if it's a real cause for concern.. cos that's what i often do when i'm too lazy to take out my 100L. might just want to sell the 100L away and get a close-up filter to mate with the 24-70 ii if the results are comparable (p.s. : i don't need 1:1 magnification.. just shooting pictures of food)

Do they even make 84 mm close-up filters?

Even if they do, you'd spend $2200 to buy a 24-70 II to screw on a close-up filter?

If you can do the job with tubes, that's another story...

I haven't had much luck with my 24-70, I am awaiting another copy...

I understand there is a lot of copy variation. When it works well, it's fantastic...
