I have stacked the 840mm combo to take moon shots, but it's not sharp, I get better image cropping. For fun I could stack this combo plus my Kenko 1.4x, giving 1260mm, the Kenko doesn't report an extra stop to the body, so the camera thinks it would be still F8. Not sure how soft the image would be, but will interesting to try

Double stacking TC's I strontly recommend stopping down by one stop. For your 840mm combo I would be at F11 to be sharp image.

Talley, does the 6D eliminate the red focus square in the view finder when it lock on? I miss this some times on the 5D3, not that is a big deal.

Yes. It blinks red when locks then is not red until you refocus to relock where it blinks again.

Thanks for the stop down advise, never thought about that actually, only tried it the one night to see what it was like, I shot wide open as it was night, didn't consider stopping down to increase sharpness

Thanks heaps for your advise, I am swing more toward getting the 6D, I'm a bit of a gadget man and love playing with new technology, it sounds like the 6D will do what I want in a companion plus new tricks. I guess I can always pass it on to my wife or sell it if I later decide I prefer twin models, hopefully the 5D4 will be out by them with wifi

Personally, if I were getting a 2nd body after a 5D3, it would be either the same model (5D3) if I wanted to stay FF so that all the controls are the same, making for quick switches, or a 7D for the extra reach when needed. Another, different FF would seem to be the worst of both worlds.

Uh. No. Not for 300 bucks. Look at the trandscend wifi sd card. 60 bucks for a 32gb gives any camera same function as 6d

Has anyone got both a 6D & 5D3?

I do. I bought the 6D because I hate changing lenses. I have said this and will say this again, the vast 61 AF points of the 5DIII really comes in handy in composition if you are not into recomposing.

That card let you control your camera from iphone, ipad? MOst SD cards I know are damn slow for any real world use unless they improved a lot recently.

Uh. No. You're so wrong it's ridiculous (mostly because of the way you presented your case).

I find the 6D to be noticeably lighter than the 5D3 so makes for a good family vacation camera. My wife uses facebook to share photos with her family so for her to be able to connect to the 6D wifi browse photos and upload them while they are happening is a great great feature.

If it was me I wouldn't hesistate to have a 5D3/6D combo.

I do the same thing with my Iphone and 5d3. but if I needed a second FF camera (I don't) and didn't need the 5d3 features heck yeah I would get a 6d.
