add-on wide angle lens

I got a call today, to do a favor for a real estate friend. He wanted me to fill in for his photog on a couple properties. I did a quick search and found add-on wide angle lenses?? Does anyone have experience with these and any suggestions?
I don't want to purchase a high end wide angle lens just for this, but if I can drop $30 and slap one of these on my 18-55mm kit lens ... I could live with that.
Advice?

They are junk. You would be better off renting a 10-22 if you can.

If it's a one time thing, it might be worth it to give it a try.

But you are better off stitching a few shots together instead of the adapter.

Don't want to even throw $30 at it if the images are going to look lousy. Never thought of stitching shots, that's a great idea. Thanks for the advice and feedback!

If you are going to stitch, practice first to get an idea. Get all your manual settings right to make your work easy.

I had one of those add-ons a few years back. Used it once - it's garbage.

Yes, since I've never stitched before I was going to take a few at home (since my house has pretty small rooms) and practice. I don't want to walk in without at least a little idea of what to expect on the back end. Thanks again for the feedback, this site is a godsend!

I have one left over from my film days, it worked very well on both a 50mm and 200mm lens. The add on wide angle lens I have is a 7 element lens and prints up to 8x10 looked good. Digital is a bit different the same add on lens on my Canon 7D and 50mm lens just doesn't work the same. The image quality seems to still be good but on the Canon 7D it looks like I'm using a 4mm lens looking through a tube. Makes for some interesting looking shots but nothing really worth keeping. What I'm saying is be careful if you go the add on lens route that it is make for use on a digital cropped camera.
