That is my goal. I want to shoot them in the trees/natural habitat.

If you're interested, B&H has a used 1.4X II, condition 9 for $260. You can always return it if your not happy with the performance.

Toggle up some branches next to your feeders. The birds will land on them before going to the feeder. Works like a charm. I have some that I stick through the handle of an old fashioned milkcan. They are 5 to 6 feet tall.

How much better is the 1.4XIII compared to the 1.4XII. Is there really a noticeable difference? I would be using that on the 300mm f/4 exclusively so I want the better of the two. I am researching but I figured I would ask here since it was brought up.

Pretty much sums up what I read last night. Glad to know I am getting the same info from all the posts/pages that I read last night. I guess I will get on B&H to see if they still have that 1.4XII available.
