The day was raining and overcast but After 16miles we counted 10 eagles Adults and juvies. I was looking forward to the trip since there is an Eagles nest a stones throw from the river. It was active last year so I was hoping for the same this year. I took the 5d III with the 100-400 and got mixed results with the lack of sunlight and rain. Any tips (C & C) would be greatly appreciated. Seems like I need a 500 on the 5d but with being hand held and boat movement it wouldn't do any better.
Thanks for looking,
Ron

Well done. That nest isn't in north IA is it? One of the ten I watch is in the same type of tree, just as close to the river as you describe. My supervisor's sister owns the land but it's a poor nest to take pictures from that side. Been meaning to take a canoe.

Thanks, I have been trying for sharp details but hand held in a boat is my nemesis.

No, this nest is in Ohio on the Muskingum river. This was a large sycamore tree the nest is in but I am not sure what the tree is that one of the parents was sitting in.

Nothing wrong with those! Your second shot of the eagle adult is great. When the young are that small it's tough to get any good shots, you did well!

Cool

I am still not happy with the results, but the rain and clouds didn't help. will have to go back and take my extenders and hope for a brighter day.
Thanks for the comments.
