I'm thinking of buying the 500, is there any negotiations on price with dealers and what is the typical discount. This lens seems to priced at $10,399.00 everywhere I check.

I like Adoroma and I'm in their VIP club.

Any thoughts?

Good luck trying to deal on this new, sought after lens. I am not an Adorama fan in general but still, good luck. What % are you trying to save? .5%? more?

List price is way above what B&H or Amazon is asking. Check it out!

Maybe they are not going to give you a discount, but they might give you something extra like lens coat, CF cards or maybe even a free bag for the lens. Its worth to try, and thats what i always did to both BnH and Adorama, and most of the time they gave me some goodies which is not bad.

That's already less than Canon's ERP on their website.

Evan,

That's a discount! thanks. I need to research the duties and customs costs now.

Thanks again.

I don't think there are any for shipments going to the US. Unless your state has a sales tax. I live in Canada but I've never heard of Americans having to pay duty on anything.

Just be careful if you decide to order from Aden Camera. It seems they don't accept prepaid credit cards which is what I use when ordering online. I tried to order a 1.4x III tc last week and got an email a few hours after I placed the order telling me that they couldn't validate my HorizonPlus mastercard so I phoned them and all they suggested was that I should cancel the order so now the order is cancelled but they had already made a pre-auth on my card which will not be returned onto my card for another two weeks! I've used the same card when I ordered from many other camera stores in the past and never had problem

They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I said I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard! - Fallout New Vegas

I'm lucky enough to live in the city that Aden is in...I love the place, they always have the best prices...I bought my last two cameras and three lenses from them with absolutely no issues...although if you ARE considering buying from them, do read their returns/exchanges rules before you buy...they are a little harsher than other stores around here, hence the lower prices...

I've bought a few things from Aden Camera as well. And they are very particular about verifying
your Name, Shipping address, and Credit Card before they ship, to prevent fraud, which if fine with
me. It keeps their costs down, so that they can keep their prices down. And the two weeks to
remove the pre-authorization is the credit card company, not the store.

I've actually dealt with all three of the companies, and have had good dealings with all of them.
