I've bought a few things from Aden Camera as well. And they are very particular about verifying
your Name, Shipping address, and Credit Card before they ship, to prevent fraud, which if fine with
me. It keeps their costs down, so that they can keep their prices down. And the two weeks to
remove the pre-authorization is the credit card company, not the store.

I've actually dealt with all three of the companies, and have had good dealings with all of them.

--Evan

So does every other online dealers I have ordered from, like theCameraStore in Calgary, Simon's Cameras in Montreal, Henry's, McBain Camera etc they all verify my name, shipping address and so on but none of them turned me down for using a prepaid credit card which is in fact registered under my name and address. Maybe Aden just has an unique way to deal with online customers. The card company told me that the store has to fax them some information about the authorization in order for them to remove the preauthorized amount right away which I did but it seems the employees at Adens ignored my request. I guess I have myself to blame for being too greedy this time because theCameraStore has the same TC on sale but cost 15 bucks more...

They also don't take Credit Cards for International Orders as well. Which is their prerogative.
But the duration of the hold is up to the Card Issuer not the merchant. And dependant on the
Merchants Agreement with their card processor, they may not be allowed to. I know it sucks.
In this day and age of computers, it should be a simple task, and shouldn't take days to do.
At worst it should be the end of the business day, when the store closes off their transactions
for the day. But it could be worse, I use to have a card that would take 30 days for them to
fall off. I don't have it any more. My current card averages 5 business days.

I'm thinking of buying the 500, is there any negotiations on price with dealers and what is the typical discount. This lens seems to priced at $10,399.00 everywhere I check.

Best bet is to email one of our sales reps directly: I'd suggest Steve Chil - stevec@adorama.com (external link). If he can, he will....

I like Adoroma and I'm in their VIP club.

Thank you! :D

.....I am not an Adorama fan in general but still, good luck. ......

:(
Is that down to anything specific? If so, please email me with more details: Helen@adorama.com (external link)

I don't think there are any for shipments going to the US. Unless your state has a sales tax. I live in Canada but I've never heard of Americans having to pay duty on anything.

I have had to pat duty on canadian purchases.

I purchased the original Nikon 200-400 on Ebay some years back, I believe. The seller disclosed that there would be duty due. The lens shipped from Canada. I live in NY.

The lens arrived via UPS. Some weeks later I received a bill from UPS for close to $400, if memory serves. I don't know if that's some bogus fee they tack on for taking it through customs, but it sucks.

As to Allen's Camera in Pennsylavnia, I buy from them all the time. Their service is awesome. No shipping, no sales tax, at least until Congress changes that law.

I wish I had the money to pick one up too. But for now, my Sigma 120-300 F/2.8 OS + 2X TC
will have to do.

So is the available insurance minimal. Vistek and Camera Canada have the 500 II for under 9 grand. 200 shipping, 200 duty, still huge savings.

I agree I wish adorama would match it.
