For those interested into getting into editing after processing an image check out the Phlearn.com (external link) website!
Honestly they're the simplest tutorials to follow.

I just found them recently, too. Some good stuff for sure.

I got a few of their retouching videos. I learned some things, but also disagreed with their approach to some. For example on one photo the retoucher was just painting over an unwanted shadow area with the tone from a highlight and then added back noise to simulate detail. The comment was that it was close enough based on the size/use of the photo (which can be true), but I would think they would use an alternate technique to get a better result when teaching. Split frequency for example. And a lot of time was spent on stylization rather than getting a good base edit. Maybe I missed the one that goes into more detail on the base edit? I learned enough that I thought it was worth the purchase price though.

Thanks for sharing! I don't like what he did to the skin but that's just a matter of lowering the opacity a bit afterwards. Very nice YouTube channel. I will be spending some time there.

You can see bigger before/after images here: http://phlearn.com …-image-in-under-5-minutes (external link)
Just mouse over the image.

Personally, I'd find it confusing unless I had a background of using Adjustment Layer Masks. You can read more about them in post #8 here: Tough Exposure question

Lynda.com is another good source. Some tutorials are free. Many colleges have a site license for their users.
