I have a canon 20d and I have been shooting my photos in the jpg/ raw format.
my first question is that if any one could help with photoshop?
I need to know how to brun my photos to a cd after I edit them?
does it matter if they are raw or jpg format?
also how do you convert raw files to jpg so that you can send them in to be made?
can you please e-mail me if you can help wins22001@sbcglobal.net (external link)
thank you

If you are shooting raw with the 20D the Adobe RAW in Photoshop Elements will convert the files for you without a problem. One you files have been converted to JPEGs just burn them to a CD from the directory in which they are stored.

Hope this helps.

Starting with Photoshop version 3.0 adobe included raw converter. for some silly reason 2.0 was thrown into the camera package and did not support raw. 3.0 is different than 4.0. 3.0 is what i currently use because 4.0 requires Windows XP and more hardware requirement that I don't have. If you have XP and lots of hardware power it's something to consider.

Can someone tell me if 4.0 requires the internet or dialup to register the product before it being usable? I personally hate companies that do this because if they go under, then the software becomes useless. example of one... Tax softwares.. :(

I bought 4.0 and it's okay, not nearly as big a jump as from 2.0 to 3.0, which included a whole bunch of stuff. I don't like the new organizer but I guess I can learn to live with it. The RAW converter is the same as in the big brothers sw (CS2) and works great. I vary between using ACR, RSE, and DPP. Just depends on how I feel at the moment. If you're using PSE 2, I'd definitely recommend the upgrade to 4.0 I got mine at Wal-mart for $79.

I do remember registering it but I don't remember if I had to or not, I don't think so.

if you have high speed, the product probably registered automatically.

i have it, and dont really like it. When i open pics they open up green. I'de rather have 1 program to open raw and then post process it and for $79 upgrade its not a bad deal.

That's odd > ... maybe the wrong color profile is being used.

Can we just be clear here that the mention of Photoshop 3 and Photoshop 4 in this thread are Photoshop Elements. I don't think there can be much confusion; the "full" Photoshop is now up to Photoshop CS2 (which declares itself to be version 9), but it's worth being completely clear in case someone has an older copy of the full version of Photoshop.

Though Photoshop Elements 3 and Elements 4 use Adobe Camera Raw 3.x, I believe that some of the features in ACR require the use of Photoshop CS2.

Almost every Adobe product requires online activation these days; certainly Acrobat 7 and all the CS2 products do. It's not too awkward, and you are allowed to activate two machines at once (the licence agreement allows you to install and activate on two machines at once, as long as the software is only in use on one machine at a time).

Personally, anytime there is a software registration required, I stay far away from it as possible. I am not comfortable when information is being registered, etc. There's also no guarentee if companies will be around. Another hassle is if your registration key was being used elsewhere (stolen) or if your machine crashed and needed reinstallation or simply purchased new machine, then you probably need to call in to have it registered. Remember what Microsoft did when Windows XP first came out>?

PS Elements 3 also has a raw converter - Adobe Camera Raw 3.3, though it is a bit simmered down from the full version.
