The HF-DC1 is an add-on flash unit by Canon. It is a reactive unit. It senses a "pre-flash" by the camera, to synchronize its flash with the camera's. According to Canon's write-up on their web site, it has no cable to plug into the camera, and has no wireless connection. As long as the units have Line of Sight (LOS) to the main camera, you can employ many units to one camera. This unit can be used by any camera with that pre-flash signal.

What I need to know, what's it like to actually USE it? Perform as advertised?

Went on Amazon.com and read their reviews. Not kind to this product. Three alternatives emerged, based on the depth of one's wallet. Yongnuo YN 560, Neewer TT 560, and the Sunpak 383. I don't know which I'd choose.
Your thoughts?
