Consider buying a video projector and not a computer projector. I.e. a projector optimized for film use and not for displaying PowerPoints or Excel diagrams.

The computer projectors are optimized for high light levels and strong, pure, colors.
The film projectors are optimized for exact colors.

So computer projectors fails to give believable skin tones etc.

Compared to what your club is accustomed to with slide projectors, computer and 1080i digital video projectors may be a disappointment...best you can find is 1920x1080, or 2.1 MPixel -- far lower than what our cameras can capture!

No, if there is enough $$$, then there is always the choice of 4k film projectors.

This one might look like one of the nacelles on the Enterprise, but is an extremely good projector - but at an extremely high price.

$25K, oh joy...better get Larry Ellison to join your camera club!
Better to get a $5000 55" 4K LCD TV with 3,840 x 2,160, which is a bit less than Canon 40D quality.

My club, the Fort Myers Camera Club, purchased an Epson PowerLite 1775W about a year and a half ago. We find it to be an excellent projector. Accurate colors, very bright, astoundingly quick to set up and quiet. Well worth the $1000 or so we spent. I believe it has been replaced by the 1776W. I am currently considering purchasing one to replace the Canon projector I use for my workshops and seminars.

The resolution is one issue. More importantly is the bit depth of most projectors - 6 bit.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

Which is a reason for avoiding data projectors.

The projectors designed for film use can do better - at least if we skip the cheapest ones.

Better film projectors also often have support for Deep Color and/or xxYCC to break the 16 million color limit of 8-bit HDMI data, and enable better gradations.
