I am new to digital photography but have already made several prints that I like, and would give to friends and family. However, the paper I bought, Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper, is covered in warnings about touching the printed surface. I would like to make my prints more durable, and searching around the internet I have found several products recommended by different sources:

http://www.uscutter.com …te-Semi-Gloss-Spray-12-oz (external link)
http://www.ecoprintshield.com/coating-with-printshield/ (external link)
http://www.apexinks.com/lyson-print-guard.php (external link)
http://www.dickblick.com …rylon-1303-crystal-clear/ (external link)

Is one of these particularly appropriate for my purposes, or is there another method altogether I should look into? These are large prints, the one I am particularly concerned about is 16x48". I do not want to spend a lot of money so mounting behind glass is not feasible.

Get a better paper. The Epson papers, even their premium versions, aren't that great. You should be able to touch a good paper without fear of ruining the print.

Try Red River's Ultra Pro Satin paper. It's better quality than Epson, costs less and is quite durable. I also love Ilford's Galerie papers... the smooth pearl has a beautiful finish that's not too glossy and not too matte but it costs a bit more.

6D/50D/350D with too many lenses
Calumet 4x5, Pentax SV 35mm, Canon A-1, Rebel G and many more toys...
