Just to chime in... I have an Ikea chair which is getting old now but great...
I think it was 200 Euros or so "back then"... I only ever replaced the gas lift on it... heck, it has been nearly 7 years with me in the UK and I do not know how long I had it in Germany...

But as others have said, go and try. I say one very nice chair at Ikea maybe a year or two ago. Their "higher end" chairs are very nice at times and worth a look.

After years of crappy chairs I finally tried a Aeron and it is the best and most comfortable chair I have ever sat in. I now own 2, one for home and one for work. Both have broken after 5 and 7 years and they have been fixed under warranty free of charge. I used to have chronic back problems and haven't since I switched to these chairs.

They are expensive but in this case you get what you pay for.
