Unfortunately, these were taken about two weeks before I got my 100-400mmL, they were taken with the 55-250. I was looking straight up the utility pole, so the sky is a bit blown in some...I would LOVE to have this shoot over again. (48 pics on my Flickr)

Quite nice that you got that close without it flying away. I can never get that close. Nice use of the 55-250mm

Thanks! It was crazy, I just got home from work and I saw all of this debris floating around. I realized they were feathers, looked up, and there he was, just starting to pluck the Sparrow. It was really cool to watch, and I was straight under him for some of the shots...my wife actually yelled "Watch he doesn't drop any on you!", lol.

I know exactly what you mean. We have a communication tower where I work and the base is always littered with magpie parts. Unfortunately the nest is too high for me to have a decent photos.

Fantastic series, congrats on paying attention and looking up. In number 7, did he swallow the leg just like that? Really great stuff, like you say, circle of life.
Well done indeed!

Cool shots. Just so you know, it is a Merlin, our second smallest falcon

I got to thinking. Does hawks attacks other bird for food? Or is this more of a falcon trait?

Hawks will eat small birds as well. Red Shouldered Hawks are notorious for hanging around bird feeders to pick off smaller birds if they don't pay attention.

I can't tell the difference, especially when they're flying, between hawks, falcons, and even turkey buzzards...all I know is, there's always some big birds flying above me, lol.
