I will greatly appreciate any first hand experience from someone who had tried both.
I am trying to decide which one is better for traveling (not a replacement of DSLR).
The reviews somehow can not make me decide.
Thank you very much in advance!

The odds are kind of low that you'll find many Fujifilm X20 users on this site but I am a G1X user and have read the review on X20.

The X20 will have some advantages for the macro shooter and for those who want to have a slightly more usable optical viewfinder which gives you basic exposure and aperture info but no metering, which I find to be essentially useless. Beyond that, the G1X would seem to be the better camera due to its larger sensor and higher ISO performance in RAW, where the X20 stops at ISO 3200, presumably because it gets too washed out, detail-wise.

So if you want to shot in RAW under very low light conditions, the G1X would seem to be the smarter choice. Or if you're a major macro user, the X20 or even the Canon G15 would fit the bill.

Cheers!

The G1X is much better in the IQ department.
