I actually bought the RX100 to use underwater for a pool client. The Ikelite housing is awesome! Way more comfy dipping that in the pool than a 5Dmk3 or 1Dx in a housing! And the quality is outstanding with full control over the camera.

1Dx, 5D mk3, 70D, C100, glass for all occasions, and a studio full of support gear!

The problem with compacts is having a dSLR basically ruins you for them.

Thanks.

The two Olympus cameras mentioned look great, but of all the things I need in a waterproof camera (or any point and shoot), shutter priority is most important for me. I can't go without that. I'd go crazy.

There are no waterproof compact cameras with shutter priority,
(or manual control for that matter) in existence that I am aware of. None.

TG-2 at least has aperture priority.

There's a CHDK hack for the Canon D10 which can allow manual control, but I'd much rather have the faster lens of the Olympus TG-1 and TG-2.

True. Can't argue with that.

If you've given up on waterproof, I just thought of a slightly older model that might interest you. The ELPH 500 HS.

It has essentially the same lens as the S95, and has Av and Tv modes.

Or Canon's newer SX series have manual controls and huge zooms.

The only ones with RAW are the S and G series, though.

But much smaller sensor than the S95.
SX50 has RAW support as well. Actually all Powershots, with CHDK.

My Panasonic has very quick AF and the IQ is about as good as I've seen from a small-sensored compact.

But the ELPHs are much lighter and get lost in a pocket. The S95 always feels like a mini brick. There's no perfect answer, so I'm just throwing out options.

CHDK is fun to play with, but it REALLY slows down those little cameras to shoot RAW and then none of the common programs know what to do with a RAW file from a camera that isn't supposed to shoot RAW.

Its not that much bigger. therefor you get much better image quality and full manual control.
"Common programs" are Photoshop and Lightroom. and they surely know how to handle
DNG Raws. Also free alternatives like RAWtherapee.
And the argument in this topic is not about whats the smallest cam, its about
which digicam has the fastest AF.
I would never ever buy a camera like a IXUS cam.. No Manual Control = No Go.
And the AF is slow too.

Ricoh cameras have a Snap Focus mode, you pre-set your subject distance, there's no AF lag so its fast. The aperture controls depth of field.

I will say again,. the Nikon 1 (I have the V1) has AF that will match many Canon DLSRs in many circumstances.

The J1 with the pancake lens is about as portable as most small P&S,. and has super fast AF.

When you are talking portable/pocketable cameras, thickness is often more important than length and width. If you you a side view comparison with even the slimmest Nikon 1 lens, you'll find the Nikon 1 isn't very pocket friendly:
