Hi all

Just bought a G5, and am very pleased with it. As a newcomer to photography, I want to learn how to use the manual settings, but I have a question.

In the "priority" modes, I understand that if you set one of the parameters (aperure or shutter speed,) the camera will then adjust the other accordingly to set the correct exposure.

I tried to set the aperture to a value (f2) but when I composed the shot and depressed the shutter halfway, it not only set the shutter speed but also reset the aperture to something else (f4 if I remeber correctly.)

Can anyone tell me why this happens? I thought you could use the priority modes to set your own values?

Thanks in advance - hope this makes sense!

Did you zoom in? The more you zoom, the smaller the aperature gets. The G3 is not a fixed aperature so I am making an assumption here that the G5 is not either.

The widest aperature is only available at the widest focal length setting.
