I bought a 32 ft off camera flash cord for my speed-lite however it is not very reliable.
sometimes the camera sees it then the next shot the camera (7D) will not. Anyone else experience the same type of problems with off brand cords. I like using high speed shutter off camera and want something I can rely on, recommendations? The cord I bought is made by Interfit strobies and am using it with my 430exii strobe and 7D

For a little bit more than that Interfit cable, you could buy a set of Yongnuo YN-622C triggers. They're radio triggers so you don't have to worry about distance or someone tripping over your cable.

True, but then he would lose the ability to use HSS if he wanted. He would also lose ETTL and controls on the camera for the speedlite. Oops, thought he said 602 triggers. 622 triggers work great with HSS and ETTL :)

Perhaps you are trying to take pictures too fast and the flash has not had time to power up again? Be sure the flash is on the mount completely and make sure the cable is 100% connected to the camera. A long time ago when I used cables I never had this problem.... and I was using a 50ft ethernet cable.

Why would he lose any of those?

Not taking pictures to fast. It seams when I take the cord off and on again a few times it will then work. Not sure if when the camera goes to sleep mode it drops everything and then does not see the flash unless I start all over. The camera gives me a message incompatible flash, however the flash does works great in the shoe alone

(1) That sounds distinctly like poor contacts to me.
(2) Not surprisingly, that also sounds like poor contacts.

It may be just dirty contacts on one end or the other on the cord end boxes themselves. However I suspect that you have either a loose wire within the block on the cord end or an actual broken wire somewhere within the cord. The wires inside these things are really flimsy, usually something like 7 strands of copper thinner than baby hair. It's extremely easy to break one without knowing it. Given the low cost, I'd suggest getting another and seeing if you can duplicate the fault with the new cord. Better still, as suggested by klr.b in post #2, get a pair of YN-622s and get rid of the trip-hazard altogether.

I've come across rather too many faults with Interfit equipment in the last couple of years to consider it other than mediocre, at best. Once upon a time it was good, now I'm unconvinced except for very light use - something which a 32ft long cord will never get.

if you can, exchange it, otherwise go wireless. You'll never look back.

I am looking at wireless, yet I also like to control flash settings at the camera along with high speed sync

Not direct knowledge, but reading the spec on B+H I notice that you're restricted to 1/320th shutter speed maximum - therefore no possibility of HSS ever. Personally, I think you'd be better off with a Yongnuo YN-622C (external link) set-up - less money and more versatility. There's a BIG thread on this unit on this Forum - all 163 pages of it (so far)! OK, you may have to wait a couple of weeks for delivery from China but patience is a virtue - go do something else or learn something new while you wait
