Hey I just picked up a full spectrum modified T2i for astrophotography and it can also be used for day time photos. I am wondering how to use it properly during the daytime, I see that alot of people use 560-900+ nm high pass filters on unmodded cameras but do I need to use these filters as well? I used the green grass as custom white balance and got the grass to turn a pretty cool yellowish tone but I really need to figure out how to clean up the images. They are pretty red looking and they don't look great yet. If I were to use an ir filter such as 720nm, would I still be able to shoot hand held? Thanks

Hey, I've got full spectrum modified m43 olympus PEN, although haven't had great time to shoot with it.

If you want to shoot normally you must get a UV/IR Cut filter (Such as the LDP CC1 UV/IR Blocking Filter), that only passes through visible light in the spectrum. These in which can be pretty expensive.

Since you have a full spectrum converted camera, you can essentially use the 720nm+ filters without long exposures. Thus you will be able to shoot at normal shutter speeds/hand-held.

This Blog (external link) has lots of very useful information for getting started in IR/Full spectrum photography, I recommend you check it out.

Happy shooting!
