Overall the top of the list is probably the TS-E 90/2.8 given you know how to work it's magic. Others here willl tell you to get a good macro lens, perhaps EF 100. Gene GEAR LIST

May 26, 2013 19:21 | #3 what kind of food photography? I often use my 17-55 or the 60mm macro. Or one of my lensbaby lenses. The 100mm macro is also great, but on a crop you have to be further back, since it's basically a 160mm lens then. A nice 50mm works great too, I use the f1.4 40D, 5D3, a bunch of lenses and other things
