Thanks everyone! It was a spectacular sight, and definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time. Also I can thank my trusty 1D4 for holding onto the focus for the whole sequence. It actually lasted less than 2 seconds, so the birds are well practiced with their technique. I saw them do it again yesterday, but was too far away for a decent shot. Someday when I can afford the 600mm:cool:

wonderful! I have kites s(h)itting in my trees every day, their nest is two houses over, but I never got to even see the parents interact at all, let alone something like this. Would look fantastic printed and framed in one long frame. Superb!

What an incredible sequence first to observe and second to capture Lenny!
You did a wonderful job to keep the pair IF during the meeting & handoff and are certainly to be congratulated. Excellent execution!

They do this during courtship as well.
