Great shot! You must have some wonderful photo oppertunities where you live.
what do you think of the 12- 24 lens? I'm looking for a reasonably priced wide angle lens.

it's beautiful Dimitri

Thank you Marie:D

/span] as you ask
I would prefer to see the water flowing naturally and not so much of it,
as it is overpowering in the foreground with such a beautiful background showing behind

I hear you , i have done this shot before but this time my intension was to capture the river as the main part of the image.

I am not mad about water being frozen like this at any time anyway

Alot of people aren`t , its not just you , thats the beauty of individuality Marie , thats what makes us unique.

but as you say you stood in the middle of the river with an umbrella in one hand

Oh yes,i`m still wet.

I think the background hills need to show a little more height , maybe with some sky above them
you say they are huge so maybe that was not possible
but I think it may have been
raising the camera upwards instead of down (I think) :o would have been better

Well,i do like your idea, however this time would be just a waste, everything was covered in low clouds and thats the reason i wanted to stay low.
That said...the next time it will be clear sky and i`m there , i PROMISE you that i will capture an image of the entire thing,(if the wideness of my 17mm lens allows for all that).

no worries , these are just one opinion and not a general view and you already know the scene is very beautiful
if you like it just like that , then that's all that matters

The beauty of this forum is precisely this...opinions...thats what i love.
You might not agree with someones opinion , but you need to listen to it if you want to learn how different people see things.
Surprisingly , you might find yourself that you agree in a small percentage (even 5%) and from the rest 95% you might learn something else that you don`t know.

the colours are gorgeous also

Great Shot Dimitri.

I agree with you about your desire to live in the Highlands.

If I don't emigrate to Canada when I'm older I'd like a wee cottage by a river, away from the roads. :)

a wee cottage by a river,,,,yea,i hear you mate.:(

That would be a dream come true,;),but first i`ll settle for a couple more lenses.:D

Lovely Photo (as usual) Dimitri! :) Did you by any chance adjust the levels of the rock at the front right as it looks a bit like there is a slight halo between the rocks and water.

No John i didn`t,i only adjusted the levels of the upper part of the image a bit by selection my friend.
Now that you mentioned it i noticed it myself, don`t know what it is,could be the water passing but not captured completelly ( slow shutter speed remember).

Anyway , thank you for the comments and for the observation , it means that you have realy looking and that means alot to me.;)

We run out of adjectives for your photos, Dimitri. This one is excellent, as are all the others. The exposure is just perfect for the water, without any trace of over-exposure. And, the composition is very good, even if you had no other choice.

Never mind the adjectives from you Stan,i know how much you support me and what you think of my photos,i think from the next time it will be a good idea (you just gave it to me) to see different aspects and angles of the photos.;)
I`ll think of more details later on..and will let you know.:)

I look forward to your post with great eagerness. I had a look around you website and I was completely blown away! :D

Well now,:o,how to thank you i don`t know Adrian.

BTW "Jaguar 3" shouldn't that be listed as a Panther?

Actually Adrian,i had that talk with someone else who insisted that it was a Panther, but i didn`t argue because i wasn`t 100% sure.
So the next time i was at the place i asked and i was told that it is a Jaguar, the reason its black is that something went wrong with the geans and they came out black.
If you get very close to their body (i wouldn`t recomend it though:lol:) you will be able to see the jaguars marks.

Keep on posting (please) I always feel trsansported to the various locations!
Thanks again...

I promise i will try not to disapoint you.:)
