Great shot! You must have some wonderful photo oppertunities where you live.

Yes,indeed we do,when the weather allows.

what do you think of the 12- 24 lens? I'm looking for a reasonably priced wide angle lens.

I would recomend the tokina 12-24 with my eyes closed.
Great lens, very nice colours and sharp(when you get a good copy that is).

I take it you have a 1.6 crop camera, because on my canon 1D mkII N (1.3 crop) i could only use it from 17mm and above (with filters) and thats the reson i got the tamron 17-35 also , for longer reach.

But if you have the 20D or 350D , the tokina will be just awesome.

Brilliant shot, the capture is perfect and the shutter speed is just right.

Actually Adrian,i had that talk with someone else who insisted that it was a Panther, but i didn`t argue because i wasn`t 100% sure.
So the next time i was at the place i asked and i was told that it is a Jaguar, the reason its black is that something went wrong with the geans and they came out black.
If you get very close to their body (i wouldn`t recomend it though:lol:) you will be able to see the jaguars marks.

The latin name for jaguar is Panthera onca, [SIZE=2]I have since found a link to http://dspace.dial.pipex.com/agarman/bco/fact2.htm (external link) which as you rightly point out, there is no such thing! Your beast in actual fact is a Jaguar with Melanistic colouration.

For the uninitiated (myself included:() The term Melanistic is derived from the word ‘melanin’, a dark coloured skin and hair pigment.

I bow my head and beg humble forgiveness! ;)

Dimitri, I have only been a member for a week or two and I find your posts just stunning. Composition of landscape photos is something I find very dificult and you seem to make it look easy - hopefully I might learn something from them. This one is just amazing.
Thanks,
Niall

paracalo!

On a more serious note, Niall is right - Your composition is excellent and you seem to post all my favourite subjects. I adore landscape photos, big cats and waterfalls and you have some excellent examples in your galleries. Were the majority of the photographs taken in the UK?

Stay well!

Beautiful as always Dimitri. I am always impressed with your work and learn (that's the way its supposed to be) from viewing your work and the comments of others. I get much more the second time I look at the photo after considering the comments of others, particularly in this case, Marie. I'll get around to posting some of my pics soon and look forward to your critique.

From the cats, the only one shot in Greece is the black jaguar,(and btw,you should check my site under black jaguar,i`ve left a message for you).

The landscapes are all Scotland (unless stated otherwise).
