At Getty Images, we are keenly aware of the skill level and attention to detail which portraiture photography requires. In 2013, to celebrate excellence in portraiture by emerging talent, we are launching our first ever Contour by Getty Images Portrait Prize.

This prize will be a grant of $10,000 USD, awarded to one photographer, with less than five years experience in the field, based on their existing portraiture work. Applicants must submit 10-20 images from their portrait work (either individual images or a series) along with a biography, brief explanation of their approach to portraiture, and description of what they would like to accomplish in their careers, (each in 1000 words or less).

Famed fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh, will lead a distinguished panel of judges to determine the winner, whose work will then be exhibited at Polka Galerie in Paris.

Applications will be accepted beginning June 13 and the deadline will be August 5, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. GMT. The winner will be announced in October.

Interesting. Skimmed it rather quickly, no idea if this is aimed at photographers in general, or those working professionally.
