I have almost decided to swap my 7d and tamron for a 1d mark 2 and 24-105 lens. I want something more weather proof, don't use video and think I can live with the ISO and 8mp.
7d has 9000 actuations, 1d has 60000

Has anyone done a similar swap and if so were you happy. Thanks

Are you aware that Canon no longer services the 1D Mk II?

Thanks for reply, I had missed this hense the slow reply this side. I am aware of this yes. I looked at the 1d2 and it looked excellent. Apparently 60000 on shutter, so I took the chance and swapped. I am at this point very happy with the performance and speed etc of the 1d. I was out in moderate rain and was happy about this also (the main reason for the swap in the first place)

For info after a shutter check online (which in retrospect I should have carried out before buying) gives it a whopping 438000 plus shots(really hoping this isn't accurate- the body doesn't look like it got heavy use at all). This aspect is disappointing. I have taken a chance that I may regret but in the short time i have had the camera i find that i have more keepers of moving objects that I did with the 7d. I also have the 24-105 L lens which i find excellent and is also great on my 5d. Now I just hope the shutter doesn't die on me

I considered a 1D Mark 3 instead of my 7D but was persuaded by the forum to keep the 7D. What are you hoping the Mark 2 can do for your photography your 7D couldn't ? ? ?

Go out in wet weather and focus track better. It already is doing this
