Hey guys,

Do you have any recommendations for books on flash photography, portraits, or actions shots?

Mostly I take pictures of kids, my puppy (who is very fast so it is hard to get good shots of her), cars, and maybe some wakeboarding this summer.

I have read understanding exposure and understanding flash exposure. I have the basics of exposure down and the basics of flash but I would like to learn more about multiple flashes for events/weddings/portraits. I would also like to learn how to improve my technique with focusing and stuff when taking actions shots. Any info on posing/framing subjects would be great as well!

A book I purchased (and am yet to read as I'm currently studying two other books I got) and one that you may look into to see whether it may be helpful to you is "Speedliter's handbook" by Sly Arena. It has many great reviews, but like I said I'm yet to read it as I haven't gotten around to learning more about flash yet, someone else here may be more familiar with the book to leave some input....

Something else that may be helpful is this website.

I recently read Joey L's book called "Photographing Shadow & Light"

It has a lot of lighting diagrams and is pretty easy to get your head around. It also inspired me to do more strobing.

Oh and there is a lot of nice imagery in there too.
