Sometimes the framing is a bit off (#2) or some people are blocking other people, but that's hard to avoid in a fast moving event like this. Nice. Thanks alot. Yea, I was trying to avoid getting people in the shot so i had to reframe. somethings you can't help. WEBSITE

OwainShaw Some of my best friends are people. More info | Jun 01, 2013 14:01 | #7 Some good shots in these, with a nice look to them as well - contrasty but clean. A couple of times some feet have gone missing though - especially in #2 this is a little problem as you can't tell if he's just holding her, or if she's suspended in the air - being able to see who dancers is often important ... in most of the others it hasn't affected the image too much though, especially with big groups ... | New website.

Thanks for the tip. I can see what you mean with #2. I was shooting these from the audience so my priority was to frame my shots without having other people in the audience get into my shots as well. luckily I was able to get photo passes for next year so Ill take your advices in mind. Wide is good when you get to photograph at close quarters, although if you start working in theatres you might find yourself wanting something long more than something wide - to get at the right level so as not to shoot from below you have to be quite far back in a larger theatre and something like a 70-200 becomes desirable. If you can work close quarters at the right level, wide will be good to have as well ... A 70-200 is definitely already in my list of lens to buy especially since I mostly do portraits. I even choose the 28-135 over my 24-105 just for that extra reach. WEBSITE

Nice shots I'm looking to pick up a 70-200 (would be happy with a Sigma non-OS) when I can - I bought my kit for when I was working much smaller theatres, for which it was ideal, but I've found myself in larger ones of late, and the lack of reach is sometimes felt ... I work with what I have, and I'm not unhappy with it but now I'm working in bigger spaces, I need to think about getting what I need to do that job as well. | New website.
