I normally shoot the high school football team, but since this is the furthest the baseball team had ever made it in the playoffs I thought I would try my hand at some baseball. Unfortunately the fences were very high and their dugouts were pretty bad coupled with hardly any space to stand due to such small bleachers, I did not have an angle to shoot the batters. I would have loved to have shot some pictures with the ball in the frame or some sliding.

These were shot with a 70-200 2.8 IS I with a 1.4 extender which seems to be making them kind of soft in my eyes.

I've never been happy with an extender on my 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens. Maybe it's just my lens but it is sharp without an extender.

I can only dream to be able to afford a 400mm 2.8, that would likely solve all my problems...

My shots aren't as sharp either with my extender. After meeting a guy who shoots with a 400 2.8 and seeing his pics compared to mine Im saving up. I just do it as a hobby so I don't know if I can justify it.

Nothing wrong with these shoots. Did you try shooting thru the fence?
