Does anybody know if a Canon G9 will work with a Profoto Acute 600e pack & heads? I was hoping to be able to attach my G9 camera to the 600e with a hot shoe to PC adapter. The guy I'm buying this set up from says "The nine g won't work with the lights or any strobe lights for that matter only speed lights."

Could somebody please verify this? Thank you!

Your problem is triggering. The sync cord won't plug in, but any radio trigger will fit the hot shoe. I'm using my G11 with Yongnuo RF-602s and Elinchrom Skyport all the time and have been using it with Profoto Air before. They all worked without a hitch.

I would, however, not attach an adapter to the hot shoe. Depending on the trigger voltage of the pack, your camera might fail.

Two questions here. If the G has manual controls and a hotshoe it can use the profotos. But you are aware that it wont do any auto expsosure with the strobes?

gonzo,
By manual controls, you mean manual mode? The G9 does have a manual mode and a hot shoe. An older used profoto kit is available locally. This kit looks like a good way for me to get into lighting. I've been photographing clothing and trinkets for ebay listings using a continuous lighting set up. Will this older Acute 600e set up, will not having auto exposure be a problem for me?

Not if you know what you are doing, manual is preferable to studio work. Yes, I mean manual mode. The ability to select a shutter speed and aperture. That said. with that sort of investment, buy a rebel or used 40D.
