This lake was formed after the Parker Dam (no relation to us damn Parkers) was completed in 1938. It's one of several that dam the Colorado River to provide flood control, as well as store water and produce electricity for numerous communities in AZ and CA, including the city of LA. It is 45 miles long and as wide as 3 miles in places. The water is extremely clear, but relects the nicest aquamarine color from the clear skies out here. Incidentally, it has been 103 days since there was rain here, and this is normally the wet season. Apparently, the west coast states are getting it all.
