Few from Brands Hatch on Saturday, only managed a few hours but it was good to get out on the full GP circuit - need more events on the full circuit - time to say 'bollox' to the moaning minnies who complain about the noise, simple - don't buy a house near a long standing race circuit!

All with the 1DX, Canon 200-400 with built in extender.

How about multi Olympic gold medalist Jason Kenny going for it in a radical - some people have WAY too much talent.

Takes a little getting used to but you can't deny it's quality. You will love it, look forward to seeing what you think after your first outing.

Recommend a good monopod if your using it for long periods of time.

Thanks David! I've rented it before to use for a symphonic band concert. Worked really well considering we're mostly stationary during concerts.

Haven't used it in the field yet but I took the lull of a week to try a new video build. Think that FSB8 head is just barely holding on.

Been way too long - almost forgotten how to turn the camera on. gray and miserable but had to try for something, nature decided it wasn't playing for me today, best I could manage:

Hide and Seek - too shy to come out any further

What sony video camera do you have attached to that canon lens? What adapter are you using?

I'm currently using a Sony PXW FS5 with Metabones Speedbooster or Metabones EF-E adapter.

Wow that must be a really nice setup for long video recording! How well does AF work if at all with the adapter? I am debating on a GH5 and metabones Speedbooster for video. It is between that or a 1DXii and just live with the 30 minute limit and no 4K HDMI output.

Different strokes for different folks! Based on the past 3-5 years of work (ever since I got a camcorder starting with FS700, then FS7, then down to FS5), I've been getting an almost 50/50 split between video and stills work. That's why I require my camcorder to be slightly more capable out of the box with specific connectors like SDI and XLR for certain applications.

I've not tried the 1DX II for video, but I did own a 1DX that I sold just last week, and I did use my 5D3 for video prior to my camcorder. I've also had some experience with Sony A7 and A6xxx series cameras, and one gig with a GH4. I can tell you straight off the bat that working with camcorders is a much more pleasant experience for video-centric gigs. If that is what you aim to do, then I would highly suggest a camcorder. But if you're just toying around with the idea of video, I would suggest getting a mirrorless because the EVF can help you out in terms of bright sunlight.

Back to the 200-400 topic, the AF does not work - video is mostly manual focus so that doesn't bother me.
