Made a small change to the flash diffusers, and tried out a few shots. Ended up watching an ichneumon wasp run up and down each plant, then fly to the next.
A little patience and I managed one lucky shot. It is not the best quality.

I was trying to get this hover in flight, it was hovering a lot, but I took my chances when it landed.

Quite nice shots, Bas. Well-captured details of the fly in the second shot and your light is becoming more & more pleasing.

Bas,

Your images are just ridiculously OUTSTANDING!!! I just recently logged back into my flickr and seen your recent work. Needless to say I heard something a man never wants to hear from his wife "you'll never be as good as he is" ;) Great work.

Thank you Ishrani. There is still no WOW factor (to me) but I do feel I am getting better, and that is great

LOL Tony. It is strange I still see my work as being not that good, I have some nice shots, but with all my progress this year I don't see myself as a Kurt/Brian/Denis/Ishrani/Andres/KC.. Many thanks for your kind words.

Very nice light, Bas!

Thank you Kurt.

I will be honest, I am not sure that the light is better, the change I made was to be able to get the flash close enough to subjects at higher zoom on the MP-E. As always the lighting is a work I progress.

As I am generally happy with the lighting I am now aiming to get better composition, and more pleasing pictures. I also need to reduce the silly errors, all of these were underexposed because I got caught up in the moment and didn't check the histogram. I needed to bump up the exposure by 2 and then give them a sprinkling of noise reduction.

For all that I really appreciate all your kind words and support, so please let me know what I could do better- I was to become as good as I can.

Lighting is fine. Ichneumons never seem to rest, tough subject.
