I'll be at both. 3rd time at Wall, 8th at Seattle. I think this marks FD # 40 and 41 for me overall.

Serious question for you drift guys: are you ever bothered by the fumes?

I've never been bothered by anything like that while shooting ALMS, Grand-Am, Indy, etc but a couple of weeks ago at a NASA event I started to feel a bit sick. I was hundreds of yards from the pits but right at the edge of the track and I realized that there were a couple of cars that were really putting out some toxic chemical smells.

who gives a rat crap how much gear you can list?

It's likely methanol.

A few years ago, Sam Hubinette had methanol in his challenger drift car, I had tears streaming down my face from being 100 ft away from that car near the start line. That stuff is NASTY.

The current cars on grid don't give me any problems

You're probably right. I had kind of guessed methanol.

I wouldn't mind going to the Wall event since it is very close but I doubt I would get a cred as the people I work for have never covered it.

I'm fairly certain the guy who rides the Segway through the Ken Block videos is ahead of you in line for that.

I've been to NJMP a bunch of times and have never heard a word about anyone paying to take photographs. Can you elaborate a little?

(There was a plan a couple of years ago for NJMP to sell season passes to photographers for $500 which was quickly abandoned)

There shouldn't be any issues with pro gear at all. Although, at Wall, all spectators are behind a pretty large chain link fence, so it may be tricky to get good shots of the action. Of course, the pits will be fairly open.

For those of you who are considering applying for media for NJ, do it ASAP as the deadline is this Friday.

With the right lens you should be able to get some photos up on the banking from the stands at Wall.

If you can't fix it with a hammer you've got an electrical problem.

I never had an issue at NJMP, as a spectator (behind the fence) or on a team (inside the fence)
