I've been printing and selling my work on Bay Photo Metalprints for a number of years now, as their ultra-high gloss nature tends to make my landscapes stand out very well, particularly at large sizes.

I've become interested in Fujifilm's Fujiflex printing medium, though, as it promises a wider colour gamut, while retaining the ultra-glossy, deeply-saturated look of aluminium prints.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

What would be the ideal way of mounting Fujiflex or Cibachrome prints? Face mounting on acrylic, with an aluminium back, sounds good, but will there be problems with bubbling from the acrylic? What about Dibond/alupanel mounting?

How did you heard about it? So you're saying that the results are superior to that of metal prints?

Is this paper based and that you print it from a photo printer or what?

It's a polyester-based photographic 'paper' that is developed using a Lambda, Lightjet or similar printer and gives an ultra-glossy, deeply-saturated image with the same 'wet' look that you get from metal prints (so far the only thing I've seen that gives a similar look to Cibachrome). Cibachrome, metal prints and Fujiflex definitely aren't for everyone, but they work very well for landscapes.

Being a thin sheet of 'paper', it's obviously nowhere near as durable as aluminium, and needs to be either face-mounted to acrylic (hence the concern about bubbling), or back-mounted to alupanel or a similar substrate (where it would be as vulnerable to scratches, and more vulnerable to fingerprints, as any other print).

So, does anyone have any experiences with metal prints vs Fujiflex?

I've done a few metal prints and am about to try Fujiflex for the first time on a pair of images. Anybody have a recommended vendor for Fujiflex?

I just placed an order for two 16 x 24 FujiFlex prints from Weldon. Ordering from their website was easy and the lady at customer service I spoke to was knowledgable, articulate and helpful.

I'll report back on the quality of the prints next week...

Has anyone used peak-imaging.com? Their prices seem to be significantly less than Weldon.
