A relatively uncommon woodpecker. My wife an I were fortunate to find a nesting pair. A few more images are posted on my blog if you are interested.

Two great shots of this beautiful species. We had a pair in the western part of the city here, likely due to a burnt forest nearby and they were great to see and photograph...very rare here as well.
