Well, I haven't seen it before, but I just found some good gray scale gradient charts which look perfectly smooth on my main monitor, and horribly banded on the Dell.

Something is clearly amiss on my end. No idea what or how it changed, but now you can ignore my banding concerns, as they are clearly mine alone.

Anyway, the important thing is that your work looks great on the GOOD monitor!

.. quick look at display settings in Win7 showed that for some reason my Dell had dropped down to 16 bit (from 32)
Must have been a fairly recent thing, and no idea how.

Now your stuff looks good on both monitors! Sorry for the scare.

haha, Thank you Jake. Glad to know my results are good and equally as important, your monitor is good too. Thanks again. Much appreciated.

Both shots look rather great to me. Congratulations on that monitor!

Ian, I compared your new images to the ones you got at DeviantArt, they look pretty close, so I must say that your settings from the camera are already working great, I use the same resolution screen as you do I notice that it seems more hight contrast than other screens.

I own that monitor as well. It's a fantastic monitor. I've owned the Dell 2713 and a few others and the Samsung is superior IMO.

The images you posted look great on mine (obviously) and also on my TN monitor.

Enjoy your new purchase!

Cheers Al, and Ish. Much appreciated

I need to read more into using the histogram for my colours as I've always just gone by what I see but I Have been attempting to work any modifications I needed to make so that the results are similar to what I'm seeing from my previous shots.

I also need to try a re-edit of an earlier shot like Paul said to see if there's any difference.
