The tripod itself is nice, the head does the job, but I don't like it because the action is not as smooth as I like, and the knobs are fiddly. For the price, it is hard to find anything better.

I actually recommended this exact setup to my friend who wasn't ready to spend more on a tripod.

edit: actually it was the 2682 I recommended, not the 2692.

You can, yes.

Markins, RRS, Acratech, Kirk, Arca Swiss, Induro, Photoclam are all the most common names.

I guess, better go with Cxxx2 tripod, because, once they convert to monopod, you can use center column.
Compare:
C2691 have 1660 and 1390 monopod height,
C2691 have 1630 and 1710 monopod height.

I guess, better have camera on monopod on your eye-level.

Again, xx8x tripod have less sections, and will be more strudy. C2682 looks better to me overall.

For the head, benro have V-series head, and it's better then B-series, because it's smooth, and have elliptical ball there.
I don't know why, but tripod kit with C2682 and V1 names... C2282TV1(that's an answer from seller).

For 10 more bucks you get: higher monopod, better ballhead, less leg sections. I'm about to pull a trigger on this, but.... well, i gotta decide if I really need a tripod or not.

Some of the non-U.S. sellers are creative in how they describe the contents of the package, so it is possible the buyer will end up paying neither an import tax nor state sales tax. Or, uh, that's what I hear....

No. Too expensive, has 5 leg sections, ballhead is just adequate.

Of Tom's ballhead choices above, the Photo Clam perhaps gives you the best value for money.

There is no import duty for still camera equipment entering the united States. See the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States 2013 edition. Chapter 90 covers optical, photographic, cinematographic, measuring, checking, precision, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus; parts and accessories thereof.

I thought it would be nice for travel? And it seems to hold a fair amount of weight, 22 pounds if memory serves me correctly. (I am too lazy to click the link again haha)

I bought one similar to it. I bought the Benro C-269M8 Travel Angel specifically for travel when I went to Japan a few years ago. It's a nice, compact tripod and very sturdy for its size and weight (especially when weighed down with a loaded backpack via the hook at the bottom of the tripod column) . It's the tripod I take whenever I go on vacation.

Buy it. They are great tripods for the money!

I have it and love it. Great for travel. Replaced the head with a photoclam and use the b1 as a backup on another tripod.

Anyone try the MeFoto Backback travel tripod?
