I typically only do landscapes, but my sister asked me if I would take some engagement shots of her and her fiancee. I agreed and went took a few shots this weekend. Looking for any form of critique on these images. Haven't sent them over to her yet.

For never having done them before you didn't do too bad. There are issues where the color temp is different - warmer/cooler between shots. They should all be the same ideally. The skin is overexposed in several. I think the main issue is posing and composition. Also the fake blur added in the B&W is a bit annoying.

I think the best ones are #3 and #5.

Most could use a bit more light in the eyes - a reflector or some fill flash could help.

I don't know much about photographing people. Well done for a first go at it, I agree #3 and #5 are best, #4 offers something thats a little different. I find the seat in the B&W shot to be distracting.

Thanks for the feedback. The reflector was forgotten at home. Technically not forgotten, but I grabbed a backdrop by mistake...

I had tried using a flash at the beginning, but it was just too bright even with the overcast sky. We have until Oct to get it nailed down.

i really like the compostion of #2, although i agree the fake blur is crudely done. it needs a more careful touch.
and...its a bit of a pet peeve of mine...but why is he wearing shorts!?!? and a frumpy polo shirt?? she is dressed so nicely... in fact, the colors she is wearing contrast nicely to the greenery, whereas the polo shirt ... i really should stop...

My wife and I agreed completely. No clue why my sister "allowed" him to wear that.

Number 3 and the last she will love. The angles and colors are good. Number one the angle is all wrong, too low, you have made her look bigger than she is. Please don't give that to her
